Mont St.Michel – The picturesque abbey is almost on the doorstep – only 5 mins by car – and a visit is a must. Entry to The Mont is free. However, there is a charge for entrance to the Abbey.
The Baie area offers something for everyone – photographers, artists, ornithologists and ramblers. It is a haven for migratory birds. Guided day and night walks over the Baie are available. The 18km Digue de La Duchesse Anne – accessed less than 1km from the property – allows off-road walking, cycling and horse-riding to Benoit des Ondes.
The flat, open landscape of The Polders is ideal for jogging and cycling – bicycles are available for hire in Pontorson to take full advantage of this and the surrounding bay area.
Kayaks are available for hire in Pontorson to enjoy the stretch of the Couesnon between Beauvoir and Pontorson.
Not forgetting, of course, fishing on the three rivers in close proximity, the Couesnon, Sée & Sélune – fishing is free on the estuaries and a shop in Pontorson can supply all your needs.
If horses are your interest The Hippodrome at L’Anse du Moidrey (between Beauvoir & Pontorson) holds regular horse meetings for trotting and there are also several stables/riding schools close by offering organised, guided horse trails across the Baie and surrounding countryside.
There are two WW2 cemeteries very close by at St.James (American) and Huisnes sur Mer (German Ossuary).
The Landing Beaches are easily accessible – 1.5hrs.
Avranches was a town of significance during WWII – it was a key defensive position for the German army and liberated by General Patton leading to the fall of Normandy.
The manuscripts of Mont St.Michel are on display in The Scriptorium in Avranches.
Micro-flights across the Baie are available at ULM in Beauvoir and towards Granville the headland offers superb coastal walks and stunning views of Mont St.Michel and The Baie.
Plage du verger and Anse du Guesclin are just two of the many beaches further along the Brittany coast – the nearest sandy beach is 15 minutes away at Cherrieux – well known for kite flying & sand yachting – tuition is available on the beach if you fancy trying it!
Foret de Villecartier (Bazouges La Pérouse) – an extensive forest which has a large lake with boats, picnic areas, children’s playground, pony rides, a café and plenty of free, safe, off-road parking – 10mins by car.
Beautiful walks, cycling trails and deer – completed by a fantastic adventure/activity park for both children and adults.
